27 Jan AFSA Announces Appointment of Andile Nikani as Chief Executive Officer
[Johannesburg, January 27, 2025] – The Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Andile Nikani as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2025.
“Andile has a proven track record of driving innovation, growth, and operational excellence, with a portfolio of notable accomplishments,” said AFSA Chairman Michael Kuper. “He joins us during a period of significant expansion in AFSA’s local, regional, and international activities. His leadership will be pivotal in shaping our corporate structures and strategies for future success.”
Nikani brings extensive experience and expertise in strategic planning, people management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and corporate financial governance.
Previously, Nikani served as the Head of the Takeover Regulation Panel, leading strategy formulation, implementation, and risk management initiatives. He was critical in making landmark rulings on company law and regulations concerning mergers and acquisitions that impacted JSE-listed companies. Additionally, he gained global regulatory insights as a visiting regulator at the UK and Hong Kong Takeover Panels.
A dedicated academic, Nikani is currently pursuing a Doctorate at the University of Pretoria. He also holds an MPhil in Corporate Strategy from the Gordon Institute of Business Science, an LLM from the University of Liverpool, an LLB, and a BA from the University of Cape Town. Beyond his professional achievements, he is an avid runner and an enthusiastic Formula 1 fan.
