08 Aug CESA celebrates the power of collaboration at the 51st CESA Aon Engineering Excellence Awards
8 August 2023 – Consulting Engineers South Africa’s (CESA) 51st CESA Aon Engineering Excellence Awards, which will take place on the 16th of August, aims to highlight the significance of collaboration in fostering a dynamic engineering industry and delivering high-quality infrastructure projects.
CESA’s CEO, Chris Campbell, emphasizes the crucial role that collaboration plays in the consulting engineering industry: “Nothing can be achieved in our infrastructure space without embarking on a process of collaboration with partners across a spectrum of industries.” This statement underlines the value of working together to address complex challenges and drive positive change.
One of the key partnerships contributing to the success of the awards is with Aon, a platinum title sponsor and longstanding supporter of the CESA Aon Engineering Excellence Awards for the past 24 years. Campbell acknowledges the significance of this relationship.
“We realise that our member companies, when embarking on their project activities, require efficient and effective professional indemnity insurance – enter Aon. CESA’s partnership with Aon extends far beyond the awards ceremony, allowing for continued engagements that provide invaluable insights into the risks confronting the engineering industry and future projected risks. Understanding the private insurance market and its outlook is vital as it impacts the future sustainability and costs within our local markets.”
As long-standing sponsors of the CESA awards, Aon has had the privilege of witnessing the significant contributions made by the engineering industry to our economy and every facet of our society.
“Aon delivers our expertise across various offerings to engineering professionals, a segment in which we have developed and designed a range of bespoke programs that answers to the specific needs of engineering professionals, whether it is securing personal assets, business assets, liability risk or working with business partners to ensure that risks are not only managed – but transferred to insurers – to protect the livelihoods of engineering professionals. The ability to plan for the future, by safeguarding what you have built today, is fundamental to moving forward,” says Dr. Nolwandle Mgoqi, CEO of Aon South Africa.
Trans-Africa Projects is another key sponsor of the CESA Aon Engineering Excellence Awards, demonstrating their commitment to supporting young professionals in the engineering industry. Campbell says that their involvement reflects a shared vision of empowering the next generation of engineering leaders.
Campbell highlights the potential for industry players to foster partnerships with CESA, which represents over 580 member firms in the consulting engineering industry, stating: “Where the opportunity arises, there could perhaps be other products that may be beneficial to our employees and CESA member firms.”
He believes that building a thriving engineering industry requires collective efforts, fostering innovation, and upholding high standards.
The CESA Aon Engineering Excellence Awards promises to be a night of inspiration, appreciation, and celebration of the consulting engineering profession’s achievements. It will showcase the remarkable projects and individuals that have made a significant impact on society through engineering excellence.
