25 May Entries to 4th cidb ERWIC Awards are open
25 May 2023 – The Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) is excited to announce that entries into their 2023 Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction Awards (2023 cidb ERWIC Awards) are now open.
Since their inception in 2020, the awards have experienced significant growth and have continued to gain momentum over the past three years. These awards have evolved to become a platform for the voice of women in the South African construction industry. What started as a celebration of the achievements of women working in a male dominated field of construction, has grown to become a knowledge-sharing platform with opportunity for women to mentor and be mentored by their peers in the construction industry.
The ERWIC Awards encompass various categories that recognise women mentors, women-led projects, and youth ownership amongst women. These accolades celebrate women across various disciplines and skills within the construction arena. The goal is to celebrate, support and uplift these extraordinary women who are dedicated to building the nation.
Bongani Dladla, CEO of the cidb, expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “Over the past three years, the ERWIC Awards have been a driving force for change within the construction industry, and we look forward to another successful year. The categories and their criteria have been refined and continue to remain relevant and current to the construction industry and the challenges it faces.’’ The Awards process is free to enter and designed to drive participation in all the construction grades, he added.
Distinguished leaders within the construction sector will serve as judges for these prestigious awards. Entries close on the 30th June 2023 which will be followed by a rigorous audited adjudication process. Applicants must visit the ERWIC website to apply https://erwicawards-cidb.co.za/ The awards ceremony will take place in August 2023, coinciding with Women’s Month.
The awards categories are:
- Project Delivery Excellence of the Year – Women-owned Construction Entity
- Rural Project of the Year
- Mentoring Entity of the Year
- Transformation Entity of the Year
- Innovative Entity of the Year
- Professional Team of the Year
- Youth-owned Woman Construction Entity of the Year
- Woman-owned Construction Entity of the Year

The construction regulator believes that the awards process will once again set a high bar, as women-owned entities showcase the quality projects they have completed within the previous year, as well as their impact on the industry.
