{"id":15688,"date":"2019-05-20T11:22:15","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T11:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/swmcommunications.co.za.dedi735.jnb2.host-h.net\/?p=15688"},"modified":"2020-08-06T18:41:52","modified_gmt":"2020-08-06T18:41:52","slug":"the-innovation-hub-opens-up-international-science-and-technology-parks-workshop-to-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swmcommunications.co.za\/press-office\/the-innovation-hub-opens-up-international-science-and-technology-parks-workshop-to-all\/","title":{"rendered":"The Innovation Hub opens up international science and technology parks workshop to all"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Tshwane, 20 May 2019<\/b><i> <\/i>\u2013 To create greater inclusion and meet the demand that has been forthcoming for The Innovation Hub\u2019s prestigious 2019 International Association of Science Parks (IASP) Africa Division Workshop, which is taking place on the 23<sup>rd<\/sup> and 24<sup>th<\/sup> May 2019, in Tshwane, the organisation has taken the decision to provide free registration for the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>The Innovation Hub has been overwhelmed by requests for attendance by entrepreneurs, students, IT professionals and other key stakeholders,\u201d explains The Innovation Hub\u2019s Head of Marketing and communications Matona Ntshona Sakupwanya.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the challenge was that many of these attendees are young entrepreneurs or students that could not afford the fee, but so desperately want the knowledge and skills that the workshop has on offer. Through this workshop, The Innovation Hub further strengthens its position in the role it plays in creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurs and stakeholders in the technology and innovation space to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The workshop is part of a series of Science and Technology Parks\u2019 build-up events that are taking place globally leading to the main IASP Conference, to be hosted from the 23 &#8211; 29 September 2019, in Nantes, France. IASP is the worldwide network of science parks and areas of innovation with over 388 members in 77 countries representing numerous sectors from 7 regional divisions including; Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, North America, West Asia and North Africa. The workshop will bring together professionals, leaders, experts from Science and Technology Parks, Areas of Innovation and technology-based incubators, all collectively referred to as \u201cSTPs &amp; AOIs\u201d, academia, the public and private sectors.<\/p>\n<p>To be hosted under the theme \u2018The Role of Science and Technology Parks (STPs) and Areas of Innovation (AOIs) as enablers for economic development\u2019, the main objective of the workshop will be to challenge practitioners from the continent to consider the economic development capacity of STPs and AOIs in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will be officially opened by the Chairperson of The Innovation Hub Board, Dr Tshilidzi Ratshitanga, joined by the Director General of IASP, Luiz Sanz and the President of IASP Africa Division, Mr Alan Boshwaen. This will be followed by three plenary sessions on the same day and will culminate in a gala dinner that evening.
