{"id":17848,"date":"2023-12-06T16:04:03","date_gmt":"2023-12-06T16:04:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swmcommunications.co.za\/press-office\/?p=17848"},"modified":"2023-12-06T11:06:05","modified_gmt":"2023-12-06T11:06:05","slug":"consulting-engineers-south-africa-welcomes-new-president-david-leukes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swmcommunications.co.za\/press-office\/consulting-engineers-south-africa-welcomes-new-president-david-leukes\/","title":{"rendered":"Consulting Engineers South Africa welcomes new President David Leukes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><em>6 December 2023<\/em><\/strong>: Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA), a voluntary association of approximately 600 consulting engineering member firms, has elected <strong>David Leukes<\/strong> as its new President.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was elected at CESA\u2019s 70th Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, 28 November in Kempton Park, Gauteng. He succeeds Olu Soluade in the position, with Knight Pi\u00e9sold Africa Regional Manager Vishal Haripersad assuming the role of Vice-President of the organisation, a position which was held by his predecessor Leukes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leukes has served as a member of the CESA board for several years and is currently Managing Director of BVi Consulting Engineers, a CESA member company. He completed his National Diploma in Civil Engineering at the Cape Technikon and subsequently attained his BTech Degree at the Free State Technikon. Leukes also has an MBA Degree from the University of Stellenbosch Business School.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his acceptance speech, he stated: \u201cI am honoured to have served in the industry in my capacity as a CESA board member, where I have been contributing towards the growth and development of consulting engineering in South Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Born in the Northern Cape town of Upington, Leukes\u2019 fascination with the world of infrastructure started at an early age, leading him on a professional journey through education and leadership roles within the profession. He received a bursary through BVi Consulting Engineers in 1992, which he believes was a major contributor in opening doors towards his civil engineering studies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI have over 25 years\u2019 experience in the industry, having risen through the ranks at BVi Consulting Engineers, and I am looking forward to using my skills and leadership attributes to contribute towards driving transformation and bringing positive change within our communities,\u201d said Leukes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CESA CEO, <strong>Chris Campbell<\/strong>, congratulated Leukes on his new role within the organisation and reiterated his support: \u201cWe are looking forward to working with the new president and continuing to drive our focus on partnering with industry stakeholders for sustainable, value for money infrastructure development. The president will be officially introduced to members of the media at our annual CESA Media Breakfast, scheduled for 1st February 2024 at the Radisson Blu in Sandton.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leukes\u2019 presidency will run until the end of 2025 and will see him play an important role through advocacy in the organisation that is the custodian of the well-being of the industry supported by member firms who employ approximately 19 000 people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>ENDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>About CESA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) is the custodian of the well-being of the Consulting Engineering industry and serves as a channel for clients and member firms to address industry concerns, solutions, and opportunities, while at the same time providing a platform for the sharing of information in order to optimise the integrity, planning and delivery of infrastructure projects both in the public and private sector.
