25 August 2022:  The Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) hosted the prestigious Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction (ERWIC) Awards on the 24th of August 2022. This year’s awards have 12 categories that recognise companies and individuals who support the gender transformation, development, and mentorship of women in the construction industry....

The Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) is excited to announce that the Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction (ERWIC) Awards will return for the third time in 2022, after two successful years and dozens of high calibre entries. Entries this year are opening on 2 May and the cidb encourages women, as well as entities that promote women in the industry, to start preparing their submissions....

08 October The 2021 Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction (ERWIC) Awards held in August this year, celebrated the great strides that women are making in the sector. In order to further discuss how an enabling environment can be created for gender transformation within the construction sector, the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) hosted a webinar on the 7 October in which winners of the Awards were joined by their male counterparts to discuss what needs to happen within the industry to create an enabling environment for gender transformation....

25 August 2021 In her keynote address congratulating the winners at the 2nd annual Construction Industry Development Board’s Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction Awards (ERWIC), Department of Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister, Noxolo Kiviet confirmed government’s commitment to transformation stating, “The Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan indicates government’s will to ensure effective gender mainstreaming in all aspects of the plan through the participation and mobilization of women at all levels.”...

Ahead of the 2021 Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction (ERWIC) Awards, the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) held a webinar on 6 July which unpacked the challenges facing women in the construction industry. Stakeholders across the industry joined online to unpack barriers to success, and discuss how best to minimise these barriers in support of industry transformation....

In a traditionally male-centric industry such as the construction industry, it is important to make tangible efforts towards transformation and inclusion. Industry bodies play a vital role in these efforts, driving the direction of the construction sector. With this in mind, the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) created an awards programme – inaugurated in 2020 – which celebrates and encourages women in the construction industry....

In the coming months, 23 award-winning women in construction will undergo business development coaching with Grow South Africa, compliments of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure. The Department have sponsored the Grow Master Class programme for the winners of the inaugural Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction (ERWIC) Awards 2020, an awards programme developed by the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) to celebrate and encourage women in the construction industry and showcase women-led projects and achievements....
